Your wallet private key is the cryptographic secret that gives full control over your blockchain address and assets. Exporting your private key allows you to access the same wallet from other compatible wallet applications if needed.
If you want a deeper explanation of how crypto wallets work, how private keys control blockchain addresses, and the difference between custodial and non-custodial wallets, read our guide: How crypto wallets work
Because the private key controls your funds, it must be handled with extreme care. Anyone who obtains your private key can control your wallet.
This guide explains how to export your private key from the wallet interface used in Monavo.
Important security notice
Before exporting your private key, make sure you understand the risks.
- Never share your private key with anyone.
- Do not paste your key into unknown websites.
- Avoid storing the key in screenshots or cloud notes.
- Only export your key on a secure personal device.
Where the wallet comes from
Wallets used inside Monavo are created using infrastructure from Dynamic .
Dynamic provides secure wallet infrastructure that allows applications to create non-custodial wallets while keeping control of keys with the user.
This means:
- the wallet belongs to you
- you can export your key
- you can use the wallet in other compatible applications
How to export your private key
Follow these steps to export your private key.
Step 1 - Open the wallet widget
In the Monavo application header you will see your wallet address. Next to it there is a Dynamic wallet link.
Click the Dynamic link to open the wallet management interface.
Step 2 - Open account settings
Inside the wallet interface open the settings section.
Navigate to:
Settings -> Account and Security
Step 3 - Export the private key
Inside Account and Security, select:
Export Private Key
The wallet interface will ask you to confirm the action before revealing the key.
Once confirmed, the private key will be displayed so you can copy and store it securely.
Where to store your private key safely
If you export your private key, it is important to store it securely.
Recommended options include:
- writing it down and storing it offline
- storing it in an encrypted password manager
- keeping it in a hardware security device
Avoid storing private keys in plain text files, screenshots, or messaging apps.
Why exporting your key matters
Exporting your private key ensures that you always retain full control of your wallet.
Even if you stop using a specific application, the same wallet can still be accessed using other compatible wallets that support the same blockchain network.
This principle is one of the core ideas behind non-custodial crypto wallets: users remain the ultimate owners of their assets.
